Welcome to Gingerfightback.
The site was dreamt up by author, social entrepreneur and master puppeteer, Jim O’Sullivan and there is now a small happy band who write the articles, poems, prepare the images and answer the problems submitted to the site. The words and pictures are pure nonsense, ridiculous and totally far fetched.
You will either get it or you won’t – but hopefully you will find something to laugh at.
Which category will you fall into? Dive in and find out!
We look forward to hearing from you.
We all need to fightback.

Thanks for visiting and as we say Better a Redhead Than a Deadhead!
This page has the following sub pages.
Very cool concept! Thanks for putting some ginger into WordPress!
I’m the only one in my family who’s not a ginger. Go figure.
We all have our crosses to bare!
Must be you are all fans of South Park? I must live a very sheltered life, because I had never heard the term “ginger” used until I saw that show. Thank goodness it’s been elucidated, otherwise I would be wondering why your blog is focused on an innocuous spice.
Hello
Never watch it!
Best wishes
I tried to start a Red Headed League at the high school I work at. We would meet for one meeting, get a picture taken for the year book, and disband until the next year. But red heads don’t like to get together. They’re afraid of each other.
Good point well made – I have rummaged in the memory for some Kiplinesque quote about fear “Being only something or other in the innards of mortal men until we are exposed to lumpy custard” etc etc but unfortunately cannot think of anything. Perhaps this subject is ripe for a pithy quote?
quite a gripping site…i came around for a look and stayed for a while.
Thanks – keep visiting!
Best wishes
Thanks for visiting my blog since it made it possible to find yours. I’ll be sure to share it with the gingers in my life.
Cheers Tammy – we like to think our nonsenses is colour blind – so feel free to spread the word to everyone in your life!
Subscribed to your blog because there is so much here! Go ginger (thanks to my hair stylist) quite a lot. At one time for 5 years straight.
Pure jealousy.
Have colored my hair so many damn times that I never know what to write down when re-applying for a driver’s license…
Have also noticed that my ginger friends are the best and most fun, and that the ginger men I’ve dated have quite a large, er, track of land.
Cool site!
Thanks very much – glad you are enjoying things – can’t comment on me arable plot though!
Love your site!
Cheers glad you like it!
Thanks for liking my post…
it is strange I’m sometimes called ginger, although I prefer red! Fate…
No problem – welcome to gingerfightback – hope you will enjoy the nonsense!
“Only a ginger can call another ginger ‘ginger’.” – Tim Minchin
Unfortunately Tim Minchin is an idiot.
Be a ranga, not a ginger.
remember when the left was red, instead of green?
Very cool site! I was looking for you on Twitter. What is your handle?
If you put a Twitter and Facebook link on your blog then people could post it out there for you!
It’s about time the fight back started. I say this as someone who always wanted to be a red head, so I am a little biased.
Fun site 🙂
Thank you Tilly
I have always wanted to be a laughing housewife. Perhaps we can swap for a day or two.
Best wishes
Has anyone but me noticed that on Dr. Who every time there’s a new doctor one of the FIRST things he does is check to see if he’s ginger and then lament that he’s not?
I may not be ginger except in skin pastiness, but I made my character a redhead by gum!
Good for you!
Love the concept. I was a ginger once thanks to a stripper. I don’t mean the hard working kind that gyrate for their money. Color strippers are what I’m referring to. Don’t get all…..”She sounds racist.” ……I mean hair.
Don’t worry, I guessed what you meant. Glad you are enjoying the nonsense.
Outstanding! Thanks for visiting my blog; now that you’ve introduced yourself I will enjoy watching what you’re up to as well!

Thanks very much – very kind of you!
Dang … for being relatively new at blogging, you have quite the commenters! Well done! So if you get bored with them or have no room at the inn, please send them my way.
Will do!
Thanks for the subscription! I’ll be sure to share this blog with my ginger friends. No, really. I’m sending the two of them the link right now.
Thanks a lot – nice to hear such positive support.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I have been stepping very gingerly around your blog since I am a once and future brunette and have found some very funny stuff as well as some lovely poetry. During one of the decades of my life, I lived in Berkeley, California (known affectionately as Berserkly) and a woman there told me, “All redheads are from Mars.” She was serious; I am curious: is it true?
Hello
Thanks for the kind words. In answer to your question – about 17% of redheads are from Mars. You can normally spot a member of the Martian Clan Rouge by their slighly clumsy gait and love of savoury flavoured party foods. This has something to do with a spot of inter galactic argy bargy several eons ago. So your friend was partially correct. She sounds interesting. Say hello to her for me and let her know we have a charabanc departing for Olympus Mons in the New Year. Their are still a few seats available!
Best wishes
when my brother was born with red hair, my father left and never returned.
Sorry to hear that – has it affected you in anyway?
In middle age, my brother went bald and I thought that my dad might come back. He didn’t.
A case of hair loss is your loss?
Hey there, thanks very much for subscribing. I’ll have you know, (though not a redhead myself) they have played an enormous role in my life. My first kiss, my first boyfriend, several very close friends, both still in and now out of my life. I am a champion for the burgeoning cause of the brilliant redhead. Live long and prosper – I hope this isn’t the last of our interactions! 🙂
Thanks Louise. Nice to hear from you – although there are not many of us about, redheads do appear to have featured dispropotionately in many people’s fledgling love lives. It was great to find your site (I admire your guts for getting up on stage) and look forward to staying in touch.
Best wishes
Jim
Jim, Thanks for stopping by my blog. Love your site. Original and well written.
Thank you Alan – I look forward to following yours too.
Best wishes
I have always wished I had ginger hair – opted for red currently as is the nearest I can get to attaining. However, I believe I have a ginger spirit. Many thanks for visiting my page and I have to say I am rather enjoying browsing around here… 🙂
Thanks for the kind words. I hope you enjoy the nooks and crannies on the site.
I thoroughly enjoyed your site and am glad that you share our spirit and outlook on life!
Best wishes
Hi! Thanks for liking my post. Great blog. I’m not a ginger myself, but I fully support your cause.
Nice to hear from you too and thanks for the support. I think I will read up about General Patton to have some pithy, granite jawed sayings about not giving up to hand. Best wishes.
Many thanks – glad you enjoyed. Any poetry lovers (ginger or otherwise) are always welcome. 🙂
Indeed – look forward to reading more of your work.
Great idea! I’m going to have to try and think up something to submit to you.
Look forward to receiving it!

Cheers!
Novel concept! Half my family is ginger and half is everything else! I am part of the blond group but my Dad was one of the darker gingers. This is fun!
Welcome to the Ginger Side!
Thanks for checking out my new blog and “liking” my third post! In the spirit of all things ginger, I have a gingerly question for someone with a more scarlet-tinged mind than me.
Why wasn’t there ever a redhead on Charlie’s Angels?
Sabrina was a total throw-away angel, and her character would have been perfectly portrayed by a rutilus caput capitis (which actually translates to “shining head” but, you know, close enough).
Hello Stacie
I’m glad you have raised this point as it has vexed me for many a sleepless night. I always had a hankering that Stefanie Powers would have made a great angel. Perhaps she could have been called granny angel (on account of her advancing years – although this makes her sound like an apple) and in my opinion would have provided a depth of acting an nuanced approach to the whole show that sadly the others lacked. Her work in Hart to Hart opposite Bob Wagner (for me his portrayal of Hart was his very own Lear, dare I say, seminal) and the irony with which they petted their dog is and remains stand out television. So I am with you on that one.
Best wishes and i enjoyed your blog too!
Haha a deadhead huh?! Very funny stuff. Love all of the randomness in your posts 😀 Oh, also thanks for stopping by!
Thanks and I was glad to find your blog.
Best wishes
Such a great site you’ve been awarded Versatile Blogger status http://happinessstanlives.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/i-won-the-lottery/
(you might already have it but Im not going through all the above to find out
Very kind of you! I’ve seen all these blog awards floating aound – don’t have a clue what they mean – but it is nice to be recognised in this way.
Many thanks and best wishes.
Hi Ginger, I am repaying a visit 🙂 and Gingers run in our family, my mother was one, my hubby is one, my son is one also my granddaughter is one… so I would have to say We are a load of Ginger-nuts.. Me probably the nuttiest of them all, But Im brunette.. ..
Love the humour your site has, Keep laughing and smiling, the world needs all of the humour it can get..
Sue~Dreamwalker
Hello – nice to hear from you and thanks for the kind words – glad the ginger runs deep in the family gene pool! I enjoy your insights and look forward to reading more of them.

Thank you for following me. What a great a blog you have here!
I’m not a red-head myself although I do harbour this secret fantasy about being Bloodrayne in my next life! Lol.
Look forward to reading more of your posts! 😉
Thanks Nisha.
Oh my gosh, your tagline is incredible. Keep on fighting the good fight.
Love,
A fellow redhead.
Cheers. Hope you enjoy the nonsense.
I love a bit of ginger. I have even seen one naked and liked it.
Glad to hear it – gingers in their birthday suits offer many freckle bedecked passions.
This may not be any great recommendation, but I’m enjoying your blog and I totally ‘get’ your style of nonsense. 🙂
Thanks very much – welcome aboard!
Outrageous! How dare you publish stuff like this?
HF
PS: I will be back for more!!!!!!
Good – glad you are outraged! Best wishes.
I nominated you for another award – the Glitter E. Yaynus award!! Yay!
Very nice of you Sandy.
hey you said a LONG way back that ‘we all have our crosses to bear”
Why the HELL is mine so DAMN heavy?
Why?
(do NOT mention women’s upper boy strength vs. a mans Ok?
Thems fightin words….)
Jen
We will settle this by a virtual web based arm wrestle – wheneveer you are ready……!
OK then “How?” asked the Luddite?
virtual arm wrestle….
I am pondering pondering…
Is there an APP thingy for this sort of thing
We should invent one. Just going to watch the classic Stallone movie about arm wrestling (thanfully the name of which escapes me) ino rder to get some ideas.
New website for (USA) gingers:
http://www.usaredheads.com
😉
Love the blog Jim. Love how much fun it is and that you can laugh about pretty much anything (not celery, though…definitely not celery).
I recently wrote about Gingers and can’t believe some of the responses I have received. It was posted on Pinterest and people have reacted … well, weird!
Thanks for the fun.
M
Hello Michelle – nice to hear from you and glad you are enjoying the nonsense. I’ll have to look up your post. Cheers.
[…] not sure why the baby’s hair is red; maybe as a way to better Sino-Ginger diplomacy? Courtesy […]
Agreed
I used to be an almost redhead – strawberry blond. Now I am an almost grey. Do I qualify! My cat dies. His nickname is the Ginger Ninja. Bit of a clue there.
Of course you do! Welcome to the nonsense! (and your cat as well)
Thanks! Typo in previous comment. Not dies, but does. Sorry.
That’s a relief!
Hello my friend,
You have posted some good stuff up here. Nice! 🙂 So keep it up my friend!
have a wonderful day! 🙂
Subhan Zein
I recently converted to gingerism. I look forward to reading your blog!
Welcome aboard!
I’ve never understood this bullying or laughing at gingers. As a child, I was devastated that I wasn’t cool enough to have red hair (auburn was my first choice, but any shade would have done).
Thanks and you are spot on!
You cannot beat,
A bit of ginger heat.
Sorry, I’ll shut door on me way out. 😉
No,no! leave it slightly ajar – thanks for stopping by.
Ginger, would you like to join my new poetry blog and become an author along with others and you could post your peotry.
http://poetscornerblog.wordpress.com/about-poets-corner/
Cheers Harry.
If you fancy doing it you can come back.
Lovely blog! Not a ginger, but my Mum was so maybe I can be an honorary ginger! Thanks for following me!
Nice to hear from you – it will be an honour to have you as an honorary ginger!
When I was young I was told my hair color was “strawberry blonde” but it just looked red to me.
I get it and I love it 🙂 Although I am not ginger I shall live the ginger life vicariously through your blog.
Cheers – glad to have you on board the good ship Nonsense!
Hi gingeers 🙂
thanks for the follow- by the looks of it your blog is totally up to scratch, cant wait to check it out, 😀
Cheers – hope yopu enjoy the read!
I will DEF be reading up on all things Ginger as I’m in Love with a Ginger Ninja!
Good!
Great site! I was only ginger until I was three and then my hair darkened as I got older, go figure!
The mysteries of life!
Hey fellow ginger, I nominated you for the One Awesome Blog Award (updated by me from One Lovely Blog Award). 🙂 Cheers! Jerri
Most kind of you – many thanks!
You’re welcome! 🙂
This may sound thick! but I’ve never understood why red hair gets called ginger when ginger is not the same colour- it’s not red either is suppose, but never mind- I can only speak for myself, but I’ve always found women with red hair very attractive. I think the ginge prejudice is pretty much focused in men. Damien Lewis is abut the only heart throb I can think of.
Like the blog by the way. Thanks for checking out mine.
Cheers – a good point about us rustry tops. Mick Hucknall has a phwoar factor too – if you are deranged that is – thanks for stopping by and you gave me a gigle wiht your posts too. Best wishes..
How have I not seen your blog before? I was not blessed enough to be a natural ginger so I had to get some help from a bottle, but even that’s not really ginger. And ginger/red-haired guys are hot. I mean, look at the princes—Harry is the hot one. And my first massive crush was on a ginger.
Hi 🙂 I’ve nominated you for the lovely blog award, check it out here http://momentsnotmemories.wordpress.com/2012/07/30/lovely-blogs-the-lovely-bloggers-and-even-lovelier-blog-readers/
😀 loving the olympics reviews…..
Cheers
Most kind of you! I will have a look – was in The Park today – saw some great sport – the scale is breathtaking!
I can imagine! I cant wait to go!
It is ACE!
As the son of a ginger, I am the proud owner of a recessive gene. One day I hope to meet an auburn young lady who might help me exploit it for the good of the world.
Good luck in your quest!
Oh most definitely better a Redhead than Deadhead!
Celery is odd; organic makes my husband’s mouth fall asleep. He thinks it has an anesthetic in it. I’ve never noticed a difference.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I will have to have a poke around here. I have a ginger in my latest story; a friend and I noted that redheads are disproportionally represented in fiction, due to their distinctiveness. Then I got to thinking about redheads in my work. She was correct. But I’m not going to make them blondes.
Cheers – I hope you enjoy my nonsense! I’ve noticed that too about Ginger represenatation – also in TV adverts and Pop Videos too. Best wishes.
I am honoured to nominate you for the One Lovely Blog Award! Please pick-up your award at http://darkofficehumour.wordpress.com/2012/08/30/the-one-lovely-blog-award/. Per rules passed down, please copy and paste the Award to your blog and follow the rules of acceptance. You have a wonderful Blog.
Thanks Ankur – very kind of you! Best wishes Jim
Reading this blog has made me laugh, in the good way – so that’s good. Although unfortunately not a ginger myself, I do have a bit of a fondness for gingers (we’ll call it a fondness, fetish sounds creepy) so will be hanging round here and looking awkward for at least a little while
Thanks Renee – glad you dropped by – hope you enjoy the nonsense. Fetish/fondness who cares!
LOL
[…] with her fiance (previously boyfriend) in a very real and sometimes poignant manner. Jim, quite possibly a ginger from the UK, fills the desperate void of British highbrow comedy with highly-acclaimed advice columns from Oily […]
So – totally getting into Your vibe here 🙂
IT’S SUPER ACE 🙂
I am a natural blonde with a redhead personality 🙂 WILL THAT BE ACE enough 🙂 xo
Cat
More than Ace! Brill!
hahahahahahahah ! Good Then 🙂
Brill – Like that one too :)\Love UK expressions xx
Good
GOOD !
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog
I enjoyed it!
Ah, as a brunette with two young ginger children I stumbled upon your blog and I LOVE IT!!!!!
Cheers Rebecca! – I am glad you found the site – jump in and enjoy the nonsense. Best wishes Jim
Gregor has been remiss in not giving you adequate props for such a fun place to hang out. He has nominated you for the rare and prestigious Eye of Yak Award, which you can collect at Gregor’s place. He also wishes you the best. When you accept the Award, Gregor wonders if you will be sufficiently kind to add a sausage in the relevant place. He would be thrilled.
A great honour for Gfb Michael – the sausage will be placed in a suitable location!

I’m not a ginger but I’m rooting for you guys. It’s long time the dusty browned hair folks took a back seat. Fight the good fight!
Cheers and welcome aboard!
Not a ginger—just a fan. Which is why I keep one at home. Cool blog BTW.
Thanks Dave – always keep a fan at home too
There are nuts and there are

Thanks!
You are welcome my friend 🙂

Hey peeps, I’m christened Rufus and my parents have a mix of Irish and Scandinavian amongst other things so I reckon that, although I have very little hair right now, I’m destined to be a “golden haired wonder”. Keep on.
Cheers Rufus – you too!
just had to stop by for some laughs. love your profile pic!!!
Thanks Mimi – stop by anytime and enjoy some or all of the nonsense!
I adore the title of your site! Thanks for visiting dentaleggs as well.
Cheers!
I was just looking at some Mark Twain quotes and found this little nugget:
“When red-haired people are above a certain social grade, their hair is auburn.”
A wise man!
Thank you for dropping by and following Malcolm’s Corner.
Cheers
Thanks for liking my post. I have three ginger step-children. They are now in their twenties, but went through hell, with a lot of anti-ginge bullying some years ago. So, well done with the Ginger Fightback, and keep going strong.
Regards, Pete.
Cheers Pete – it is amazing that the colour of hair can cause so much grief in others……
Congratulations!
