My fingers are stiff and sore with the cold
There are no smells from the pines
The winter sun shining through
Carries thoughts of warmth
The resins not warmed enough to ooze
I’d have to carry this pack much further south for such heat now
My shoulders hurt.
My poor fingers
Better get on
Winter brrr…

Okay. Now you’ve got me shivering!!! Nice poem Jim!
Thanks Susie
Sharing the pain while thawing frozen pipes — in the middle of March.
I feel your pain
the soul of Frost’s Snowy Woods, hinting at the warmth of America’s Horse With No Name.
Soon…soon…
Spring sprung here today!
Fantastic! Congratulations. I only hope ours isn’t far behind…
Nice poem. Believe it or not. We have rally been cold her in South Texas and your piece hit the nail on the head. BTW Thank you for the fabulous review on Amazon. I would like to share it if I may and spotlight your blog as well. Let me know if okay.
Cheers John – my friend qho wrote it is living in Spain at the moment and this sums up winters in the centre of the country. Feel free to use the review as you wish – thoroughly enjoyed the ride the book took me on!
Thanks. Look for it next week (or Sunday if I get the time)
Oh, wonderful stuff. This was a perfect piece for this morning. Here is California winter passed us by. I missed the snow, sitting in a warm house by the fire (okay so it’s propane), with a book and watching the flakes, or blizzard, outside. The sun has been out two days in a row, smile a big yellow Hey There!
Enjoyed that your piece managed everything you meant, yet so simply. Concise and compacted like the cold, but peeking out and sparkling like a daffodil.
I Like 🙂
Cheers!
Poor Paul, it sounds like he is visiting us in Canada. Lovely piece.
Cheers Michelle – to the best of my knowledge he is is Spain!
Paul sounds like he has had enough! Spring makes it’s arrival this week….I hope that means a little thawing!
Spring has sprung here Debra!
Here’s hoping Spring will stick around! We have a nice day today but could get snow again next week. That is nearly unheard of….
My run this morning was conducted in sunshine!
