London awoke this morning to the site of world famous clock, Big “The Beast” Ben sprouting a glorious moustache.
Agog at the sight, retired civil servant Geoffrey Pike said, “Is it real or a stick on one? I blame the French,” before walking to the baker’s to buy his cat some fish. Without success. As an insurance policy he tried the bank. Again with no success.

With this long-awaited modification Big Ben will be known as Big Bhai.
Sorry I am putting an Indianism here. Let me explain: Ben means sister in one of the Indian languages. And Bhai, you guessed it, means brother. With the latest addition it cannot be a sister any more…

I worked right across from there and would he happy to assure Mr. Pike that as always, the French are to blame (unless Ben is Asian and it takes him years to grow a mustache like my friend Mark).
